– تدين الولايات المتحدة الهجوم العسكري المتواصل الذي يشنه نظام الأسد بدعم من روسيا وإيران ضد سكان الغوطة الشرقية.
– بعد تأجيلها المتكرر لتمرير قرار مجلس الأمن 2401، الذي طالب بوقف الأعمال العدائية مدة 30 يوماً في عموم سوريا، واصلت روسيا تجاهل بنود القرار وقتل المدنيين الأبرياء تحت ذريعة عمليات مكافحة الإرهاب.
– إن هذا هو نفس المزيج من الأكاذيب والقوة العشوائية التي إستخدمتها روسيا والنظام السوري لعزل وتدمير حلب عام 2016، حيث قتل الآلاف من المدنيين.
– يجب على القوات الموالية للنظام التوقف فوراً عن إستهداف البنية التحتية الطبية والمدنيين ضمن حملتها الوحشية في الغوطة الشرقية. ويتعين على العالم المتحضر ألا يتسامح مع إستخدام نظام الأسد المستمر للأسلحة الكيميائية.
– يجب على نظام الأسد وداعميه في موسكو وطهران الإلتزام بقرار مجلس الأمن 2401 ووقف الأعمال العدائية في الغوطة الشرقية وحولها والسماح بوصول غير مقيد للمساعدات الإنسانية إلى حوالي 400,000 من المدنيين الأبرياء الذين يحتاجونها بشدة.
The White House Press Secretary on Russian and Syrian Regime Attacks on Eastern Ghouta:
– The United States condemns the ongoing military offensive that the Assad regime, backed by Russia and Iran, is perpetrating against the people of Eastern #Ghouta.
– After repeatedly delaying the passage of UNSCR2401, which demanded a 30-day cessation of hostilities across Syria, Russia has gone on to ignore its terms and to kill innocent civilians under the false auspices of counterterrorism operations.
– This is the same combination of lies and indiscriminate force that #Russia and the Syrian regime used to isolate and destroy #Aleppo in 2016, where thousands of civilians were killed.
– Pro-regime forces must immediately cease targeting medical infrastructure and civilians as part of the brutal campaign in Eastern Ghouta. The civilized world must not tolerate the Assad regime’s continued use of chemical weapons.
– The Assad regime, along with its backers in Moscow & Tehran, should adhere to UNSCR2401, cease hostilities in and around Eastern #Ghouta, and allow unfettered delivery of humanitarian aid to the nearly 400,000 innocent civilians in critical need.
