السفيرة ميشيل سيسون، حول قرار اللجنة الثالثة للجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة بشأن #سوريا: “أقول للمعتقلين وعوائلهم ان الولايات المتحدة تقف معكم وان أسماءكم لن تضيع وقضاياكم لن تنسى”
“القرار يدين على نحو صائب الممارسات المستمرة وواسعة النطاق التي يقوم بها نظام الأسد من عمليات إختفاء قسري، وإعتقال تعسفي، وتقييد شديد للحركة، وعنف جنسي، وعنف قائم على نوع الجنس، وإستغلال، وتعذيب لعشرات الآلاف من السوريين، من ضمنهم نساء، وأطفال، وعمال إغاثة، ومدافعين عن حقوق الانسان، وصحفيين. كما يوجه القرار بصفة خاصة الانتباه الى الانتهاكات التي تحصل في مواقع افرع المخابرات الحكومية سيئة الصيت، والتي ركزت عليها تقارير اللجنة الأممية لتقصي الحقائق: الفرع 215، والفرع 227، والفرع 235، والفرع 251، وفرع التحقيق التابع للمخابرات الجوية في مطار #المزة العسكري، وسجن #صيدنايا، فضلاً عن المستشفيات العسكرية، بما في ذلك مستفشى #تشرين ومستشفى #حرستا. وإن أعمال التعذيب والعنف الجنسي والعنف القائم على نوع الجنس لا تجري في مراكز الإحتجاز الرسمية فقط – وانما تحصل أيضاً في مراكز الاحتجاز السرية وحواجز التفتيش. إن الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة تدعو مرة اخرى الحكومة السورية إلى وقف انتهاكاتها الفاضحة بحق السجناء والسماح لهيئات المراقبة المناسبة بالدخول الى السجون ومراكز الاحتجاز الحكومية.
وحتى اولئك الذين ينجون من زنازين التعذيب التابعة لنظام الأسد، فإنهم يعانون هم وعوائلهم من اضرار مدمرة وطويلة الأمد. ويتعين على المجتمع الدولي أن يساند هؤلاء الضحايا. وأقول للمعتقلين وللعوائل التي تتوق لمعرفة أحوال ابنائها، وتتطلع إلى اخلاء سبيلهم وإعادة تأهيلهم – اعلموا ان الولايات المتحدة تقف معكم. وإن أسمائكم لن تضيع وقضاياكم لن تنسى.
جنباً إلى جنب مع الشعب السوري والمجتمع الدولي، نجدد دعوتنا إلى وضع حد فوري لجميع الانتهاكات والتجاوزات، وإلى محاسبة مرتكبيها، وبالأخص الانتهاكات الجسيمة، وواسعة النطاق، والمستمرة التي يرتكبها نظام الأسد.
US Deputy Rep to the UN Amb Michele Sison’s remarks on the UN General Assembly Third Committee Resolution on the Situation in Syria:
“The resolution rightly condemns the Assad regime’s ongoing, widespread practice of enforced disappearances, arbitrary detention, severe movement restrictions, and sexual and gender based violence, exploitation, and torture of tens of thousands of Syrians. The detainees include women, children, doctors, humanitarian aid providers, human rights defenders, and journalists. The resolution in particular calls attention to abuses in the government’s notorious intelligence branch facilities which have been reported on extensively by the UN Commission of Inquiry: Branch 215, Branch 227, Branch 235, Branch 251, Air Force Intelligence Investigation Branch in #Mezzeh military airport, and #Sednaya prison, as well as military hospitals including #Tishreen and #Harasta. Torture as well as sexual and gender-based violence do not only take place in formal detention facilities – they also occur in secret facilities and at checkpoints. The UN General Assembly again calls on the Syrian government to cease its egregious abuses against prisoners and allow for appropriate monitoring bodies to be granted access to government prisons and detention centers.
Those who survive Assad’s torture cells suffer devastating and lasting damage, as do their families. The international community must collectively support these victims. To the detainees and families who long to know the conditions of your family members, see them released, and rehabilitated – know that the United States stands with you. Your names are not lost and your cases are not forgotten.
United with the Syrian people and international community, we reiterate our call for an immediate end to all violations and abuses, as well as accountability for perpetrators of them, especially the egregious, widespread, and continued abuses committed by the Assad regime.”
