At a press conference held in Cairo on January 9, 2016 with Egyptian Nasserist politicians, North Korean Ambassador to Egypt Pak Chun Il justified his country’s recent H-bomb test as “a measure of self-defense” against the “ever-escalating nuclear threats and incitement by the hostile powers, led by the U.S.” He said: “We absolutely cannot stop developing nuclear weapons or abandon them, even if the skies fall to the ground, so long as the U.S. does not get rid of its terrible aggressive policies.”
